What is Family Day of Service?
Over 2,000 individuals will fan out across their communities to volunteer for the 4th Annual Family Day of Service during the weekend of May 19th through May 21st, 2017, and we need your help! The Family Day of Service is an event where families join together to participate in meaningful volunteer projects. Adults, children, and students have the opportunity to serve alongside one another while giving back to their local community. Participants can either design and facilitate their own service project or sign up for pre-coordinated projects hosted by an organization seeking volunteers. Whichever you choose, you’ll be a part of a dynamic movement to strengthen your community.
Why take part in Family Day of Service?
When people roll up their sleeves and participate in service projects, they quickly learn that they can make a difference in creating a better community and a better world. According to the Points of Light Foundation, the benefits of volunteering as a family include:
- Providing quality time that improves relationships
- Strengthening communication
- Offering ways for parents and mentors to be role models
- Giving individuals the opportunity to make significant contributions to their communities.
We believe that families that volunteer together grow together.
